Now with summer workouts concluding and four months into his new role, Pike Road began the 2023 fall season prep with a scrimmage against 6A runner-up Mountain Brook on Monday.
“The scrimmage against Mountain Brook went well. I appreciate Coach Chris Yeager for allowing us to compete against each other preparing our guys the season,” Shook said. “They made a run last year in the 6A and people expect them to do the same so I thought who better to scrimmage against this summer.”
“Our guys did all three phases and we executed things well at times. Offensively we were able to score on our last drive with the ball and on defense caused three turnovers and kept them out of the end zone for most of the day. It was a good battle for both programs and we’ll spend the next couple days making corrections and fixing the issues we identified.”
