Holmes Lifts Patriots over Prattville

MONTGOMERY — On a humid Thursday night at the Cramton Bowl, Pike Road opened its 2025 football season with a victory that will be remembered for a long time. The Patriots leaned on a swarming defense and the all-around brilliance of junior Jordan Holmes to defeat 7A power Prattville, 21–14, in the AHSAA Kickoff Classic.

Defense Leads the Way

The Patriots set the tone early with physical play up front and relentless coverage in the secondary. Linebacker Braylon Outlaw spearheaded the effort, tallying 10 tackles and a sack, while the defense as a whole forced four turnovers.

Holmes, already known for his versatility, was the difference-maker. He intercepted three passes, one of which he returned for a touchdown in the first half to energize the Pike Road sideline. Every time Prattville threatened to seize momentum, Holmes and the Patriots’ defense had an answer.

Holmes Seals It on Offense

After Prattville tied the score at 14 in the fourth quarter, Pike Road turned to its star again — this time on offense. Jordan Holmes takes a slant pass from Gunner Gibbs into the endzone. The 30-yard strike gave Pike Road a 21–14 lead with just minutes to play.

Prattville’s final drive stalled near midfield, as the Patriots’ defense forced an incompletion on fourth down to clinch the win
