Pike Road scores early to take care of Hueytown in home opener

PIKE ROAD—The Pike Road Patriots took care of Hueytown, but it was not as clean as the Patriots expected.

“We are more disciplined than what we are showing, and I thought they responded well,” Pike Road coach Granger Shook said. “We will learn from it. I know I’m not proud of the performance in the first half. I don‘t think anybody is.”

Pike Road jumped on the Golden Gophers early, blocking a Hueytown punt out of the end zone for a safety early in the game before running back Quinton Robinson ran the ball in from three yards out to give the Patriots an 8-0 lead going into the second quarter.
