WETUMPKA, Ala. — Under the lights at Wetumpka High School, Pike Road secured a commanding 29-6 victory over the Indians, marking the 100th win in school history for the Patriots.

First Half: A Tight Start

The game looked like it might be closer than the final score suggested early on. Wetumpka came out with energy, and for stretches, the Patriots had to dig in on both sides of the ball to keep the Indians from gaining momentum.

Pike Road’s offense was somewhat inconsistent early, struggling to sustain drives. Meanwhile, the defense held firm enough to limit Wetumpka’s scoring opportunities, keeping the game within reach.

Turning Point: Patriots Take Control

After settling in, Pike Road began to pull away. Key defensive stops, along with effective offensive bursts, started to tip the momentum in favor of the Patriots. Braylon Outlaw and Miles Khatri caused havoc all night with several tackles for loss and an interception for Outlaw.

A few big plays — both in the air and on the ground — combined with steady play-calling helped Pike Road stretch the lead. Once they opened up some breathing room, Wetumpka found it difficult to respond.

Standout Performers

  • The defense was especially impressive — they limited Wetumpka to just a single touchdown and held them to six total points. Miles Khatri and Braylon Outlaw were the standouts. With all their tackles and tackles for loss, Outlaw also added an interception to the 2 defenders impressive night.
  • With the offense having so many playmakers it was Omari Smith’s night. He finished with 74 rushing yards, 90 receiving yards, and 2 TDs.

Why It Matters

This isn’t just a regular victory for Pike Road — it’s a milestone. Reaching 100 wins is a major achievement, evidencing years of growth and consistent performance by the program.

Moreover, the win improves Pike Road’s record to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in region play, putting them in a strong position as the season progresses. Wetumpka falls to 1-3 overall, 0-2 in region, and now faces some questions of how to rebound in upcoming games.

What’s Next

Keep building on this momentum. The defense showed it can shut down opposing offenses, and the offense demonstrated it can find big plays when needed. If they can stay consistent, the Patriots could make a serious run in region standings. Next game is Thursday, Sept. 18 vs Percy Julian at Cramton Bowl at 7:00 pm.
